The following is a general description of the features and benefits typically available to policyholders. It is not intended to be a complete summary of the policy cover available as such cover will vary between Insurers.
With each quotation provided by Aldium a Key Facts Summary of Cover will be supplied for the particular Insurer recommended.
If the schedule to the policy names an Assured, then payment will be made to the Assured. Otherwise payment will be made to the Insured Person if they sustain Bodily Injury or Illness. In the event of death, payment will be made to the Insured Person’s executors or administrators.
Levels of compensation, as one off payments, can be selected for the following Accidents:
- Death
- Permanent Total Loss of Sight of One or Both Eyes
- Loss of One or More Limbs
- Permanent Total Loss of Speech
- Permanent Total Loss of Hearing
- In One Ear
- In Both Ears
- Permanent Total Disablement (excl. loss of Sight, Limb, Speech or Hearing) Levels of compensation, as one off payments, can also be selected for the following Illnesses:
- Permanent Total Loss of Sight of Both Eyes
- Permanent Total Disablement by Paralysis Weekly payments can be made for up to 52 or 104 weeks in the event of:
- Temporary Total Disablement
- Temporary Partial Disablement
Definitions
| Accident | A sudden, unexpected, unusual, specific event which occurs at an identifiable time and place, including a mishap to a vehicle in which the Insured Person is travelling. |
| Bodily Injury | Identifiable physical injury which:

| Illness | Illness which declares itself during the period of insurance and occasions the total disablement of the insured Person within 12months. |
| Loss of Limb | Permanent loss by physical separation of a hand at or above the wrist or a foot at or above the ankle and includes permanent and total irrecoverable loss of use of a hand, arm or leg. |
| Permanent Total Disablement | Disablement which entirely prevents the Insured Person from attending to their normal duties and which lasts 12 months without hope of improvement.> |
| Temporary Partial Disablement | Disablement which temporarily prevents the Insured Person from attending to a substantial part of their duties. |
| Temporary Total Disablement | Disablement which temporarily and totally prevents the Insured Person from attending to their duties. |
What is not covered
- Taking part in military operations
- Taking part in aviation other than as a passenger
- Mountaineering or rock climbing involving ropes or guides
- Riding or driving in a race
- Intentional self injury, suicide or provoked attack
- Involvement in a criminal act or taking part in a riot
- Claims consequent on war outside the UK
- Terrorism involving a nuclear weapon or chemical or biological agent
- Any claim whilst the insured Person is in a state of insanity
- Any claim relating to a mental disorder including anxiety or depression
- Radioactive contamination
- Pregnancy or childbirth
- AIDS
Additional cover
Medical expenses (usually limited) will be paid in addition to compensation for claims of Temporary Total Disablement and Temporary Partial Disablement.
